COSMETIC DERMATOLOGY

We all deserve to look our best. Cosmetic dermatology helps you do just that. It differs from other dermatological services in that it consists of treatments that improve your appearance, whether they be applied to the skin itself or the underlying structures that create wrinkles and creases. At Bikowski Skin Care Center we offer a full range of cosmetic procedures designed to help you look fresher and younger.

We work with you to determine the best procedures to suit your skin type and overall goals for treatment. Contact us for a free consultation and start taking the steps toward having refreshed, revitalized, and younger looking skin.

Cosmetic Services Offered

DERMAPLANING

Dermaplaning is an effective way of exfoliating the outer layer of dry skin. This technique uses a highly modified scalpel blade to remove hair and layers of dead skin. The newly exposed skin immediately looks smoother and fresher. For even greater exfoliation and hydration, a mild peel or skin specific mask is applied after dermaplaning.

MEDICAL GRADE PEELS

Medical Grade Peels are essential for maintaining skin’s health and appearance. Layers of an acid solution are applied directly to the skin in order to induce peeling or sloughing of the skin. Our nurse injector will help you select which peel is right for you, based on your skin type, concerns, and skincare goals. At Bikowski Skin Care Center, we offer an array of peels from light to deep in depth.

A Medical Grade Peel helps reduce visible signs of photoaging (including fine lines and wrinkles), improves the appearance of uneven skin tone and dullness by exfoliating surface cells, softens and smoothes the skin’s surface texture, decreases the frequency of acne breakouts, fades the appearance of post-acne discoloration, and complements benefits of in-office procedures.

BOTOX

One primary cause of wrinkles is repeated muscle movement, which is why we often start to develop fine lines around our eyes from smiling, around our mouths from chewing, and between our eyebrows from squinting or frowning. Botox smooths wrinkles by relaxing the muscles, erasing the signs of aging to reveal youthful skin that matches how you feel inside.

Botox is a neuromodulator that temporarily reduces muscle movement where it’s injected to relax and reduce the depth of wrinkles. It can be used in several areas of the face, including the horizontal lines on the forehead, glabellar lines (commonly called “11’s”), crow’s feet, and lines around the lips and chin. It can also help reduce sweating, treat migraines, and ease TMJ.

Most patients see dramatic skin-smoothing within seven days of their Botox treatment. Depending upon the depth of your wrinkles and your goals, it may take more than one treatment to reach your desired results.

Each person metabolizes Botox at a different rate, but the results usually last for three to four months.

DERMAL FILLERS

A dermal filler is an injectable treatment that adds volume and fullness to the face. They can be used to restore lost volume and smooth out wrinkles, or to create a desired facial shape in areas such as the lips.

There are many different types of fillers available, including those made from collagen, hyaluronic acid, Poly-L-lactic acid, and more. We especially love dermal fillers made with hyaluronic acid because it’s a substance that occurs naturally in the body, it’s non-permanent, and it creates beautiful, natural results.

Dermal fillers can be used to add volume to fine lines and wrinkles for a more youthful, smooth appearance. They can also be used to sculpt a desired face shape. For example, they work very well to add fullness to the lips or cheekbones.

There are several different types of dermal fillers available, and each lasts a different amount of time. The duration of the filler also depends upon where it’s placed. For example, filler placed in areas with lots of movement, such as the lips, usually doesn’t last as long as filler used in other locations. Depending on the type, placement, and an individual’s response to them, dermal fillers can last anywhere from three months to three years.
