Joseph B. Bikowski, M.D. graduated from George Washington University Medical School, Washington, D.C. in 1971. He received training in two internships, medical and surgical. After serving two years as a Medical Officer in the United States Army, he completed a three-year residency program in Dermatology at the Ohio State University Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He also serves as the Director of Dermatologic Education for the Family Practice Residency program at the Medical Center in Beaver, PA. (So, don't be surprised if Dr. Bikowski has one of his residents with him at the time of your visit.)

The word “doctor” means '”teacher” and Dr. Bikowski is involved in a variety of activities related to the teaching of clinical dermatology and the improvement of the practice of dermatology.

In 1980 he originated The Pre-Board Slide Seminar and to this day he still directs this annual, national seminar to prepare dermatology residents for the certifying examination of the American Board of Dermatology.

Over 70% of all board certified dermatologists through out the United States have used this seminar to prepare for taking their “boards”. Dr. Bikowski is a consultant for major dermatologic pharmaceutical laboratories and has published over 50 scientific papers in the field of dermatologic research and therapy, and his Internet web site for teaching dermatology is used by physicians throughout the world.
